CHELSEA THOROUGHBRED’S FIELDSMAN THRIVING AHEAD OF HIS 2016 CAMPAIGN
I was delighted to receive a call from Richard Morecombe last year, to discuss the possibility of training for Chelsea Thoroughbreds in 2016. They had a wonderful first season, with runners at all the racing festivals and a superb win and place strike rate. In particular Tony Curtis led the way winning the listed Stonehenge Stakes at Salisbury.
After a discussion with Richard and also his partner James Ramsden we decided a horse in training would not only be beneficial to my first season training but add an interesting angle to the syndicate.
Fieldsman was purchased with the help of Charlie Gordan - Watson out of Ed Dunlop’s yard in the November Horses in Training Sale. He was progressive at two and showed some useful if inconsistent form during his three year old season. Fieldsman is a horse who clearly has plenty of ability and with a current rating of 87 he only needs to improve a few pounds to feature in many big handicaps at the major meetings.
Since arriving at Saffron Stables, Fieldsman has been gelded which I feel has improved him mentally no end. His early work has also indicated this, having pleased me immensely. He will be ready to begin his season sometime next month.
There are still a couple of shares left to sell in Fieldsman, should anyone be looking to be involved in a fun horse. He could possibly take us on some brilliant days racing, Richard and James at Chelsea Thoroughbreds provide an excellent service to owners. Do not hesitate to get in touch either directly with Chelsea Thoroughbreds or by contacting my office. I would be delighted to welcome any prospective owners to the yard should they wish to view the horse.
