RACING REJOICES AT PROPOSED LEVY CHANGES
The beginning of March does not quite see our string burst in to action, however we will have the odd runner as the turf season approaches. Nottingham in early April could see the return of Hamelin, Cajoled and possibly George Cinq. Then the Greenham meeting at Newbury is very much on the radar for the likes of Shaden and Illusive.
A far more exciting topic of conversation this morning is the proposed plans by the Government to revolutionise the industry by replacing the levy system. Of course it would be unwise to get excited in the early stages of negotiations, that being said, this is a hugely positive step forward for racing financially, something that will benefit everyone from owners to stable staff. We have long been under compensated financially in British racing and it is about time we came in to line with other leading horse racing jurisdictions.
