FIELDSMAN BOOKS AN EPSOM OUTING
Often, you turn up to the races, more in hope than expectation. Whilst I felt going into the race Fieldsman was in great form, last year he had slightly lost his way for Ed Dunlop. Silvestre gave him a power packed ride; always travelling strongly, allowing him to fill his lungs on the heels of the leaders before storming out of the dip to win well. He will now head to Epsom on Oaks day for the Investec Mile, a course he has won at in the past. His summer target could well be the Bunbury Cup, 7 furlongs is a specialist distance which he’s proven at. A fast run race, as often is the case in these big handicaps will suit.
George Cinq performed with great credit last Friday evening. With no pace in the race, a decisive change of tactics saw this great old campaigner return to the best of his form. Just failing to see out the stiff mile, a drop to 7 furlongs under similar forcing tactics is now on the cards.
Cajoled disappointed at Goodwood yesterday, mitigating circumstances have come to light this morning and I am sure we will soon see a return to form.
Forest Lakes found the extended mile a step to far at Sandown and she will benefit from a drop back in trip in due course.
