NEXT WEEKS RUNNERS
Captain Felix heads to Beverley on Saturday to make his debut for the yard. Having won over the course and distance, I’m hopeful that he can be competitive in what looks to be a tight handicap.
Illusive will take up his engagement at Windsor on Monday afternoon. He was unlucky to get caught on the rail at Ripon last time out, just as the race was beginning in earnest. Illusive is a victim of his own consistency, never getting any respite from the handicapper.
I claimed Fear or Favour out of Clive Cox’s yard a fortnight ago. A small syndicate of my existing owners has been formed for this son of Haatef, to have some fun with over the next few months. I've stepped him back into handicap company at Windsor on Monday, it seems logical to run him over the course and distance where he won so well last time. I'm realistic about his chance, taking on some unexposed types in a 0-85 handicap rather than claiming company, could be difficult for him. I'm still getting to know him and Monday’s run will give me an indication of where to go next.
Later on in the week, Imperial State and Cacica should take up their engagements. Imperial State steps up to a mile from 7 furlongs in maiden company, whilst Cacica will make her debut for the yard in a mile handicap at Ripon.
Friday will see Fieldsman head to Epsom for the Investec Mile, a course he has won at in the past. He has thrived since his win at Newmarket and at this stage I could not be happier with him.
