ROYAL ASCOT REFLECTIONS
Despite the rain softened ground at Royal Ascot last week, the racing was still of the highest quality and despite initial fears it does seem that the best horses came to the fore winning their races. In particular there were some outstanding two year old performance and one could not help but be blown away by the American filly Lady Aurelia and the way she could quicken in those conditions; posting a faster time than the winner of the Kings Stand the previous day, who arguably had the better of the ground.
Hamelin returned very sore after his race and we are awaiting the results of a bone scan, it could have been very different if it had not been for Frankie realizing something was amiss and pulling him up quickly. He lives to fight another day, as so do I. Lordship stud did gain some recompense when winning the Wokingham the following day, which was fantastic and thoroughly well deserved.
