STARTING TO WARM UP
Having battled through six to eight weeks of sub-zero temperatures, it has finally warmed up here in Newmarket. Coincidently, its warming up here at Saffron House as we prepare a handful of horses to run over the coming weeks.
Yard stalwart George Cinq heads to Wolverhampton a week on Monday to get his 2017 campaign underway having had a winter break. His last start at Ascot came on very fast ground after a busy season resulting in his only disappointing run of the season. He always benefits from his first run after a break.
Two horses with contrasting pedigrees and makeups will debut at Chelmsford and Lingfield respectively. Mystery of War, a gelding by Canford Cliffs has taken plenty of time to come to hand. He will improve significantly for the racecourse experience.
Jack The Truth is a short coupled neat gelding who looks to have plenty of natural speed. He had a setback in early summer, I’m looking forward to getting his career under way. I would like nothing more than Jack to repay his first-time owners patience with an encouraging debut.
Porquoi Moi is a Multiplex filly out of Sweet Applause, she goes to Huntingdon for mare’s bumper. She has a good honest attitude and I hope she'll see the two miles out however this route gives us the opportunity to come back to the flat should we need to in the future.
