TWO YEAR OLD IN FOCUS
We are slowly starting to get up and running at Saffron House. I have introduced a handful of 3 years old to the track for the first time over the past couple of weeks. As with many of my runners they have needed the experience, but it’s a long season and I would rather they enjoy their first outing and look to improve off it in the early stages of their career. Mystery of War made an admirable start, we will see some improvement in him especially as the year develops and he strengthens up. Jack the Truth also made a pleasing start although did not quite handle the bend at Lingfield. He will be out again shortly and will be a horse that will be winning his races in time. I am going to start introducing some more experienced 3 year olds to the track over the coming weeks, a couple of which I am very much looking forward to. My first 2 year of in focus is Slipstream who is an Invincible Spirit colt we bought in Deauville. Alex Elliott and I fell in love with him from the moment we saw him and our original thoughts were only strengthened by the fact that the hugely respected Ballylinch Stud decided to stay in for half of him, joining Sarah Spencer as part owners. He is a fantastic looking colt with a great top line and very easy efficient action. He is out of a listed winning mare, who is the dam of Foxhunt and almost more notably Opinion, who went to Australia to win a group one after being sold out of Michael Stoutes’ yard.
