THE WEEK AHEAD
We have a busy week ahead at Saffron Stables. Gilgamesh, Concierge and Clem A all head to Chelmsford on Saturday evening to take advantage of the prize money. Unfortunately Gilgamesh picked up a small injury during his disappointing run in the Bunbury Cup at Newmarket; we gave him a couple of weeks out at grass and he’s come back fresh and well. I’m very much looking forward to getting him back on the track, however I’d imagine he’ll improve for the run. Concierge was hugely fortunate not to be brought down in the sales race at York having been hampered badly. I’ve opted to try and give him a confidence booster in the 5f Novice Stakes and provided he’s forgotten that experience, he should give a very good account of himself. Road to Dubai will also run on Saturday, my apprentice Jess Cooley will take the ride on him at Sandown Park. Next week sees the fillies back in action with Lysander Belle, Bella Ferrari, East Coast Swing and Valley Belle all returning to the track. Crash Helmet (pictured) will look to build upon his second placed finish on debut when he returns at Kempton on Tuesday evening. The horses seem in good form and hopefully we’ll be able to pick up a winner or two amongst them. James Garfield is being prepared for the Group 1 32Red Sprint Cup Stakes at Haydock on September 8th. He will have his final piece of work under Frankie Dettori on Tuesday before tackling an extremely talented field including Harry Angel.
