I’ve been delighted with the way that many of the horses have run over the past 10 days. Reloaded stamped himself as a horse to look forward to by winning at Pontefract, he’ll run once more before the end of the season. I was also delighted with The Great Story and Concierge who were both a little unlucky not to win, they too possess plenty of ability and will make into lovely three-year olds. Crash Helmet got off the mark in good style under our apprentice Jessica Cooley; he’s been given a mark of 69 by the handicapper which certainly looks workable.
Gilgamesh was another that found just one too good when running an excellent race at Newmarket. He’ll be backed up quickly and will run in the Challenge Cup at Ascot tomorrow.
James Garfield has been in tremendous form in preparation for the Group 1 Prix de la Foret at Longchamp on Sunday. He’s been drawn in stall 11 which is a little higher than I would have liked but it’s certainly not the end of the world. Frankie Dettori has a wonderful relationship with the horse and I’m looking forward to seeing him get back aboard. The easy 7 furlongs of Longchamp should suit him well and I’m expecting a big run from him.
It’ll be an honour to be involved on Arc day in the revamped ParisLongchamp.
