FORCE AND VALOUR
11th November 2024

Force And Valour gained a much deserved second win of his two year old career under a confident Darragh Keenan. He was well drawn and therefore favourably positioned throughout, travelling strongly and never looked like getting beat. He is a half brother to our Palace House winner Seven Questions and he now heads to Dubai as part of a small and select team. He has many options out there, and if he were to take to it well in his training, it is entirely possible that we try him on the dirt at some stage. Many congratulations to owners, Victorious Racing and Fawzi Nass.

MODERN UTOPIA
2nd November 2024

Modern Utopia clocked back to back wins as she sauntered to an easy victory at Newmarket under Darragh Keenan. This well bred two year old filly is clearly on the improve and relishes some cut in the ground. It is clear that she has strengthened up as the year has progressed and she has also learnt to race properly, relaxing much better during the second half of the season. I think she's a filly with a bright future, and I'd imagine that we'll be looking for black type next year on soft ground. Many congratulations to her owner breeders, The Niarchos Family and Anthony Rogers.

DOPAMINE
28th October 2024

Dopamine won nicely under a confident Darragh Keenan on only her second lifetime start. She has always been a filly that we have liked, however she has taken plenty of time to grow and mature, and she has now started to fill out her frame. She jumped and travelled like a filly with plenty of quality and she was well in demand when she hit the line. She won over 7f which was a real bonus as she is bred to get a lot further. Her owner Emma Banks has been incredibly patient which I'm very grateful for. She looks like an exciting middle distance prospect for next year.

WEST ACRE
24th October 2024

West Acre put in a scintillating performance on only his third start under stable apprentice Liam Wright. He started his career perfectly at Newcastle but slightly disappointed us at Kempton finishing second. He clearly put that well behind him as he moved through the race in the style of a very exciting young sprinter. It is not often that you see 5 furlong sprinters win by 6 lengths. He now has an official rating of 95 and he'll head to Dubai for the winter where the track at Meydan should suit him well. Many congratulations to his owner Michael Blencowe who has been a fantastic supporter of the yard over the last few years.

MODERN UTOPIA
16th October 2024

Modern Utopia shed her maiden tag in spectacular style under a confident Darragh Keenan ride at Nottingham. Being drawn wide, we knew that we had no other option other than to drop in and hope that they went too fast and that was certainly the case. She travelled smoothly into the race and never looked like getting beat. Now that we know that she handles the heavy ground, there’s every chance that the Montrose on the Rowley Mile is a possibility in the hope that she handles it better than the others in the race. She has a tremendous pedigree and she is the last filly out of the family so it was very important to make her a winner. Many congratulations to Anthony Rogers and The Niarchos Family, her owner breeders.

CABALLO DE MAR
5th October 2024

Caballo De Mar doubled his lifetime tally with consummate ease under Callum Shepherd late on Saturday night. He stepped up slightly in trip for the first time and he never looked like being beaten. He has learnt to jump and travel, which he found hard earlier in the year and his rate of improvement is quite extraordinary. He is undoubtedly a stayer in the making and he'll now have a well earned break before continuing his programme on the all-weather. Blue Starr Racing have had a tremendous year overall and Caballo De Mar has been a significant part of that. Well done to the owners and the team at home.

PIZ NAIR
25th September  2024

Piz Nair registered his second win of the season under an excellent Liam Wright ride. He took up a good position, racing tight throughout before finding trouble when coming to deliver his challenge. However, when the gap came he took it well and won well. He was probably value for a touch more than the winning distance. He has been ultra-consistent all year and thoroughly deserved to get his head in front again. At this stage, he'll go to the horses in training sale and he'll be a lovely handicapper for somebody next year. Many congratulations to owners and breeders, The Niarchos Family.

CABALLO DE MAR
20th September  2024

Caballo De Mar shed his maiden tag on his first attempt in Scotland on Friday. While he didnt appear to love the ground, he travelled smoothly under a confident Callum Shepherd ride to win comfortably. He's a horse that has improved mentally and physically all year, and he looks as though he'll be a fun young staying prospect for next year. He'll definitely get further in time as he continues to strengthen physically. Many congratulations to Blue Starr Racing.

PRYDWEN
15th September  2024

Prydwen added a Group 3 German St. Leger to his already spiralling CV this weekend. It’s a fantastic achievement for a horse that has now won 10 times for us. Huge congratulations go to Blue Starr Racing, the owners, and a big thank you to Kathleen Oemann who has been fundamental to this horse and his career, as well as the team around him who have done a superb job. He had to show a gritty, determined attitude under a perfectly timed Callum Shepherd ride. This horse seems to be improving at the age of 6 and he’s opening many doors for himself. Therefore, it’s a possibility that we think about a campaign in Dubai or maybe even Australia further down the line. He’s a horse in a lifetime for Blue Starr Racing and we’re very grateful to them for their support over the last few years.

BAY CITY ROLLER
14th September  2024

Bay City Roller took his record to a perfect three from three winning the Group 2 Champagne Stakes at Doncaster under a confident Callum Shepherd ride. He jumped and travelled like a good horse and showed a very game and determined attitude, which seems typical of his mindset and character. He’s a talented horse and I’m very much looking forward to seeing where he can end up further down the line. He has options open to him now but I would imagine that the most likely scenario would be for him to run in the Group 1 Futurity Stakes at Doncaster. He’ll have no issues in reaching the extra distance and any give in the ground would be welcomed. He’s a special horse at this stage and I would very much hope that he’s a horse for the Classics next year. Many congratulations to Victorious Racing.

WEST ACRE
3rd September 2024

WEST ACRE suffered a nasty setback in the spring just before he was ready to run so many thanks go to owners Michael Blencowe and Valmont who have been particularly patient as we have prepared him through the summer to get started. He made the perfect debut and he was very impressive in doing so. He jumped a little awkwardly but travelled smoothly to get up comfortably under Callum Shepherd with 20 yards to go. He is a horse who has always shown plenty of ability alongside plenty of character. It will be interesting to see where he ends up and it’s a possibility that we could run him throughout the winter as he missed so much of this season. He’ll now run in another novice race and tougher assignments await.

BAROQUE BUOY
31st August  2024

Baroque Buoy resumed winning ways comfortably by two and a half lengths under a cool Liam Wright ride at Chelmsford. It was evident that they went very hard in front and Liam was able to use his experience decisively, giving Baroque Buoy a confident ride to win. It was the first time stepping up to 10 furlongs for him, something admittedly that I should’ve done earlier in the year, however, he seemed very effective over a mile off his mark too. We’ll now persevere at this new trip and I expect him to be competitive off his adjusted mark. Many congratulations to Blue Starr Racing.

BAY CITY ROLLER
29th August  2024

Bay City Roller went a perfect 2 from 2 at Chelmsford under Callum Shepherd. He had to do it the hard way off the front and looked a little lonely at the top of the straight, when David Egan made a challenge on what looked like a talented Amo newcomer. Bay City Roller dug deep and showed plenty of quality to eventually look like he was in full command crossing the line. He’s a horse that I hold in very high regard and life will become a lot tougher for him moving forward. He has been well entered, but at this stage it’s hard to commit to a plan. That being said, he won’t run with firm in the going description. Congratulations to his new owner Victorious Racing.

MADEMOISELLE
26th August  2024

MADEMOISELLE took another step forward to win by a neck under a penalty at Southwell under an excellent Kieran Shoemark ride. She travelled into the race well and found more approaching the line as three others flashed home to pose their challenge. She’s a Blue Point filly who has only just come into herself through this middle part of the year and I certainly expect her to train on. She has an amazing attitude and physically, she’ll strengthen up with a winter on her back. If everything were to go smoothly, I expect her to pick up some black type along the line next year. Many congratulations to Amo Racing.

MISSION COMMAND
25th August  2024

Mission Command bounced back to winning ways under an efficient Callum Shepherd ride. He jumped cleanly, making use of stall one at Beverley, never looking like getting beaten, a return to 5 furlongs seemingly in his favour. He’s a very straight forward horse with a great mind and I imagine he will be able to take the next step forward, provided the ground isn’t too fast. Congratulations to Victorious Racing and HH Shaikh Nasser.

PRYDWEN
23rd August  2024

Prydwen provided us with our first winner in Ireland, admittedly he was our first runner.

He jumped a little slowly but travelled well around the tight turns of Killarney. I have to admit I was a little concerned about the overnight rain, but he travelled supremely well under Apprentice Wayne Hassatt. Wayne made a race winning move down the back straight and turning in he was ready to strike. He kicked clear and never looked like getting beaten, returning to his very best form.

It’s always been a dream of part owner Keith Breen to have a runner at Killarney, let alone  a winner, so I was very pleased to be able to provide that for him. Huge congratulations to the rest of the owners, Bluestarr Racing, who have been huge supporters of the yard. Prydwen will now head to the German Leger, before spending time in Dubai over the winter.

FIBONACCI SEQUENCE
22nd August  2024

Fibonacci Sequence got off the mark at her second attempt. She had run well previously under Callum at Wolverhampton and was able to take advantage of that experience in what was probably a weak race. She was a little slow away again and looked in trouble at halfway. However, she stayed on strongly, showing a great attitude to win by half a length. The handicapper has given her a fair opening mark and I would like to think she would be competitive on her next start.

THE FEMININE URGE
19th August  2024

The Feminine Urge showed a wonderful attitude under Callum Rodrieguez to win, first time in a nursery. She travelled smoothly, but had to wait for a gap, which never looked like it would come. When it did she was out and ran on all the way to the line. Like so many Mehmas’s her main weapon will be her will to win and I’ve every confidence she can continue on an upward trajectory. Many congratulations to great friend of the yard Emma Banks.

FORCE AND VALOUR
16th August  2024

Force And Valour took a big step forward from his debut, winning under Oisin Orr at Thirsk. He jumped cleanly and travelled smoothly, doing it the hard way from the front. He never looked like getting beat and he’s always a horse I’ve held in reasonably high regard. He is of course the half brother to stable favourite and multiple winner Seven Questions, although he’s completely different both physically and mentally. He has various options including Sales races and the Mill Reef. I’ll see how he comes out of the race this week before finalising any plans. He’s owned by Victorious Racing, who continue to have a very good year.

LOVE IS LAW
10th August 2024

Love is the Law made it two wins from just three career starts. She travelled smoothly under Callum Shepherd. It looked like a match race before, and soon turned into one at halfway. Callum was able to deliver her with a winning run and she looks a filly that is going to continue to improve. She‘s tall, rangy with plenty of scope, I doubt she will get further than a mile as she has a lot of speed in her pedigree.

She’s owned by some great new bunch of owners to the yard and I’m looking forward to seeing  where she takes them.
