BAY CITY ROLLER
29th August  2024

Bay City Roller went a perfect 2 from 2 at Chelmsford under Callum Shepherd. He had to do it the hard way off the front and looked a little lonely at the top of the straight, when David Egan made a challenge on what looked like a talented Amo newcomer. Bay City Roller dug deep and showed plenty of quality to eventually look like he was in full command crossing the line. He’s a horse that I hold in very high regard and life will become a lot tougher for him moving forward. He has been well entered, but at this stage it’s hard to commit to a plan. That being said, he won’t run with firm in the going description. Congratulations to his new owner Victorious Racing.

MISSION COMMAND
25th August  2024

Mission Command bounced back to winning ways under an efficient Callum Shepherd ride. He jumped cleanly, making use of stall one at Beverley, never looking like getting beaten, a return to 5 furlongs seemingly in his favour. He’s a very straight forward horse with a great mind and I imagine he will be able to take the next step forward, provided the ground isn’t too fast. Congratulations to Victorious Racing and HH Shaikh Nasser.

PRYDWEN
23rd August  2024

Prydwen provided us with our first winner in Ireland, admittedly he was our first runner.

He jumped a little slowly but travelled well around the tight turns of Killarney. I have to admit I was a little concerned about the overnight rain, but he travelled supremely well under Apprentice Wayne Hassatt. Wayne made a race winning move down the back straight and turning in he was ready to strike. He kicked clear and never looked like getting beaten, returning to his very best form.

It’s always been a dream of part owner Keith Breen to have a runner at Killarney, let alone  a winner, so I was very pleased to be able to provide that for him. Huge congratulations to the rest of the owners, Bluestarr Racing, who have been huge supporters of the yard. Prydwen will now head to the German Leger, before spending time in Dubai over the winter.

FIBONACCI SEQUENCE
22nd August  2024

Fibonacci Sequence got off the mark at her second attempt. She had run well previously under Callum at Wolverhampton and was able to take advantage of that experience in what was probably a weak race. She was a little slow away again and looked in trouble at halfway. However, she stayed on strongly, showing a great attitude to win by half a length. The handicapper has given her a fair opening mark and I would like to think she would be competitive on her next start.

THE FEMININE URGE
19th August  2024

The Feminine Urge showed a wonderful attitude under Callum Rodrieguez to win, first time in a nursery. She travelled smoothly, but had to wait for a gap, which never looked like it would come. When it did she was out and ran on all the way to the line. Like so many Mehmas’s her main weapon will be her will to win and I’ve every confidence she can continue on an upward trajectory. Many congratulations to great friend of the yard Emma Banks.

FORCE AND VALOUR
16th August  2024

Force And Valour took a big step forward from his debut, winning under Osin Orr at Thirsk. He jumped cleanly and travelled smoothly, doing it the hard way from the front. He never looked like getting beat and he’s always a horse I’ve held in reasonably high regard. He is of course the half brother to stable favourite and multiple winner Seven Questions, although he’s completely different both physically and mentally. He has various options including Sales races and the Mill Reef. I’ll see how he comes out of the race this week before finalising any plans. He’s owned by Victorious Racing, who continue to have a very good year.

LOVE IS LAW
10th August 2024

Love is the Law made it two wins from just three career starts. She travelled smoothly under Callum Shepherd. It looked like a match race before, and soon turned into one at halfway. Callum was able to deliver her with a winning run and she looks a filly that is going to continue to improve. She‘s tall, rangy with plenty of scope, I doubt she will get further than a mile as she has a lot of speed in her pedigree.

She’s owned by some great new bunch of owners to the yard and I’m looking forward to seeing  where she takes them.
